American Marine Holdings: “Shut down production for a couple of weeks.”

Friday’s announcement that Liberty Associates would no longer be involved in the management and ownership of American Marine Holdings, which includes the Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line brands, has taken another turn. According to John Walker, the former president and chief executive officer of the boat companies who resigned from American Marine Holdings on Friday afternoon, production of Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line boats has been temporarily suspended.

“Liberty decided they no longer wanted to participate in AMH,” said Walker in telephone interview today. “”What they (AMH) told me was they were going to shut down production for a couple of weeks. They are on a temporary shut down. At least that’s what they told me. I decided I wanted to stay with Liberty and Baja.

“I wish them (American Marine Holdings) luck and we’ll see what happens,” he added.

According to Walker, Liberty still owns the Baja Marine brand and the Fountain Powerboats, Inc., facility in Washington, N.C. The relaunch of Baja, as well as the service center will continue as planned.

“We intend to go forward with the Fountain Powerboat Service, Inc., department and Baja Marine,” said Walker. “Both Baja Marine and the Fountain service department will be open Monday morning, as always.”
