American Price Looks to Repeat at XCAT Stresa GP

Jay Price is hoping to put the disappointment of the Naples GP behind him as the accomplished American driver returns to the site of his first XCAT World Series win this weekend—the Stresa GP in the beautiful town on the banks of Italy’s Lago Maggiore.

Price and Skydive Dubai co-pilot Sultan Al Dhaheri are currently second overall in the Union Internationale Motonautique Skydive Dubai XCAT standings and are coming off a frustrating sixth-place finish in Naples, Italy, after flipping their boat in the race for Emaar pole position the day before.

Price said he’s looking forward to returning to the site of his maiden XCAT victory.

“Stresa holds a special place in my heart, not just because it was my first win, but also because it is such a beautiful and relaxing city,” he added. “I think the excitement of the fans made it a special day for me. I am confident that we will give our best performance possible—hopefully that will equate to a win.”

A relatively new combination in the series, Price and Al Dhaheri are still adjusting to each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

“Both Sultan and I come from a Formula Racing background,” Price said. “I like to push hard and he has no fear. Last year when we won the Stresa race I was with a different driver, our first time together. So I am sure that we can master the course very quickly.”

The Fazza duo of Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi currently lead the UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Series with 1,200 points and have been in phenomenal form this season—remaining unbeaten in the first three rounds. Price and Al Dhaheri are second with 620 points and the Italian combination of Tomaso Polli and Matteo Nicolini are third with 440 points.
