Bonnier to Relaunch Powerboat Magazine

According to a press release from Bonnier Corp., the publisher that acquired Powerboat and Trailer Boats magazines last month, the company will relaunch Powerboat magazine with editor Jason Johnson at the helm. Current Powerboat subscribers will automatically receive the new relaunched magazine.

“The next chapter in Powerboat’s storied 40-plus-year history will be an especially exciting time with the Bonnier name behind the ‘World’s Leading Performance Boating Magazine,’” said Johnson, who has worked on Powerboat for the past six years, in the press release “We’ll still deliver the same trusted, informative and first-rate content expected in every issue of the magazine, and we’ll soon serve our dedicated audience with new digital offerings.”

In an earlier press release following the acquisition, Bonnier had announced it would not continue to publish Powerboat in its “existing frequency.” A call from speedonthewater.com to Jamie Burris, the publisher at Bonnier who will work with Johnson on the print and digital versions of the magazine, regarding the apparent changes in Bonnier’s plans for the magazine had not been returned when this story went live.

“Powerboat will be the best resource and media partner for the performance-boat industry and other companies looking to reach the brand’s enthusiastic and affluent readership,” said Burris in the latest release.
