Like the 2014 spectacular Double-R Performance/Edwards Mazda Georgian Bay Poker Run, the Performance Boat Club of Canada’s 2015 events will be dedicated to fundraising.

According to its website and Facebook page, the club’s mission “is to promote safe and responsible performance boating through education, awareness, and organized boating events. With the help and support of the performance boating community, our goal is to contribute to local communities through charitable fund-raising activities. Since 2007, the club has raised over $350,000 for various charities in southern Ontario.”

Charities to which the club has contributed include the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada, he Orillia Volunteer Firefighters Community Disaster Relief program, the Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth, the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, the John D’Amico Fund and Hustle for a Cure and Dreaming for Discovery and Cure.

Several of the club’s members including Bob Barnhart and Meghan Brousseau also are members of Fort Myers Offshore club, another non-profit organization that dedicates all of its efforts to fund raising (in FMO’s case for college scholarships). Sponsors include Concord Hardware, Double-R Performance, Edwards Mazda, Mercury Racing, Priestly Demolition, Royal LePage North Bay Real Estate Services and more.

“The members of PBC are some of the most generous and fun people you’ll meet on the water,” said Brousseau.”Giving back is the core of our Club, and members really show their generosity at the Charity Auctions we have at each gala dinner. We’re also very fortunate to boat on some of the best waters in North America and we take special care of new members who are new to a particular body of water.’
