Catching Up With Good Boy Vodka’s Pratt Before ‘Fox & Friends’ Appearance On Friday

Although the on-the-go Alex Pratt and I crossed paths a few times during last month’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout—he even hand-delivered me a Good Boy Vodka John Daly Cocktail, the brand new Iced Tea & Lemonade with vodka drink that is now available to purchase online, at the Performance Boat Center Welcome Party—we didn’t really get a chance to catch up much while in Central Missouri. And with his busy schedule thanks to offshore racing, product promotions, pleasure boating and more, we’ve exchanged a few texts since then about some major developments for the Good Boy Vodka brand as well as plans for the 41st annual Key West World Championships (Nov. 6-13) produced by Race World Offshore in Key West, Fla.

“Bro, I’m about ready to bash my head through this computer screen because I’ve been staring it at nonstop for three days, but how are you doing?” Pratt asked with a laugh when I inquired about how he was handling everything on his plate, which at the moment includes a recently revealed NASCAR team sponsorship, a concert he’s promoting during the November world championships in Key West and the John Daly Cocktail launch in addition to the three new Good Boy Vodka seltzer flavors released earlier this summer.

And, oh yeah, he’s also in the middle of his rookie season in the Class 1 World Championship produced by P1 Offshore. Despite a rough go at it thus far, the throttleman said he’s enjoying racing alongside veteran world champion driver Miles Jennings of Great Britain. The teammates are looking forward to competing in next week’s RWO-produced Baystar Clearwater Nationals (Sept. 23-25) in Clearwater, Fla.

“Seriously though, I’m having a blast trying to keep up with everything we have going on,” Pratt said. “It’s been nonstop, but nonstop is good. I’m the type of person who needs to be at these events, shaking hands and meeting the right people. For me, that’s the way I make things happen.”

Not only is Pratt excited about debuting the Good Boy Vodka sponsorship of the SS Green Light Racing No. 8 car driven by David Starr at this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, he enthusiastically shared the news that he and the team are going to be guests on the Fox & Friends Show this Friday morning on Fox News Channel.

“We’re promoting the NASCAR sponsorship ahead of the team’s race on Friday night in Bristol,” Pratt said. “But we’re also going to get the chance to talk about Class 1 and the XINSURANCE and Good Boy Vodka offshore racing team as well as the charitable side of Good Boy Vodka. I can’t wait. It’s exciting to be able to cross promote between NASCAR and powerboat racing.”

The Good Boy Vodka wrap on the No. 8 SS Green Light Racing Ford Mustang should get tons of attention in Bristol, Tenn.

On top of the NASCAR news, Pratt said he’s received an overwhelmingly positive response to last week’s announcement touting the Boats and Boots concert featuring Eddie Montgomery, Brian Kelley and John Daly at Truman Amphitheater in Key West on Saturday, November 12. He’s expecting the 3,000-plus-capacity venue to sell out and all of the VIP boxes to be accounted for very soon. Tickets can be purchased here.

“The concert is going to be a big one—I mean who wouldn’t want to come to this show?” Pratt exclaimed, adding that there is going to be an afterparty—the Rick’s/Good Boy Vodka party—starting at 10 p.m., at Rick’s Bar on 202 Duval Street.

In terms of pleasure boats, Pratt still owns the bright-green, fire-breathing, turbine-powered 50-foot Mystic Powerboats catamaran, but he also added a new MTI-V 42 luxury performance center console powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R engines in time for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.

“This is my first 42 and in typical MTI fashion, it is an extremely nice boat,” said Pratt, who owned a 48-foot MTI catamaran before the canopied Mystic and is considering putting a deposit on another one to get on the MTI production list.

He added that he has a new quad Mercury Racing 450R-powered Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 450 Sport center console currently in production. In fact, it’s at Hydroflat Custom Fiberglass and Paint in Louisiana where the 45-footer’s No Coast Design graphics are being executed by Hydroflat’s Evan Schaubhut and his team.

For Pratt’s new 45-foot Nor-Tech, the design team at No Coast Design in Indiana drew inspiration from a Cigarette 42X he used to own.

Once the paintjob is complete, the boat will head back to Nor-Tech in Cape Coral, Fla., where it will be rigged and wrapped up in time for its debut at the 2023 Miami International Boat Show.

“I had a 450 Nor-Tech before but I didn’t build that one,” Pratt said. “I liked it a lot but this one is going to be pretty cool. It’s going to have a similar paint scheme to my old Cigarette Racing Team 42X V-bottom. It has a red to orange fade and super deep inlayed graphics. I think people are going to love it.”
