‘Cigarette Difference’ Display Ready for Miami Boat Show Docks

For years, Cigarette Racing Team’s display has been one of the highlights—if not the highlight—of the Miami International Boat Show for go-fast powerboat enthusiasts. That’s been particularly true for the past five years thanks to the Opa-locka, Fla.-based sportboat and center console builder’s marketing partnership with Mercedes AMG, which has resulted in several breathtaking boat-and-car combos in the Cigarette booth.

Said Cigarette’s Skip Braver: “We are going to have the largest in-water display, other than the food barge, at the show.”

But with the annual event’s move this year from the Miami Convention Center, which is being renovated, to Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key, Cigarette had to make some big adjustments. Too large for the tents that will be set up for the show, Cigarette’s sportboats and center consoles, including “something really different this year” on the Cigarette/Mercedes AMG front according to company principal Skip Braver, will be in the water at the temporary docks that are being constructed for the event. And all of those boats will be visible and closely accessible from Cigarette’s completely enclosed structure on Dock No. 1.

According to Braver, the company actually constructed a complete mock-up of the structure, as well as the final version, at its boat-building facility.

“It’s a new show venue so we wanted to make sure everything fit and everything would be perfect,” he said. “We’re calling our display, ‘The Cigarette Difference.’ It will include a 3-D multi-media wall.

“We have something special for all our boats on display as well, but I’m not ready to talk about that just yet,” he added. “We are going to have the largest in-water display, other than the food barge, at the show.”
