Cobra’s First 270 Python Deck Boat Wows Owner

Powered by a single Mercury Racing 565 engine, the first 270 Python deck boat from Cobra Performance Boats was delivered to its owner about a month ago, and his family, who is thoroughly enjoying its third boat from the Montclair, Calif., builder, has used it every weekend since on Arizona’s Lake Havasu.

According to the proud new owner, the performance of the new 270 Python from Cobra Performance Boats matches the boat’s looks.

“The customer loves it,” said Jeff Bohn, Cobra’s owner. “He really loves the ride and said it feels so much quicker and lighter than the 26-foot deck boat he had before. I ran it 87 mph on a calm, glass day on Lake Elsinore before we delivered it so I know it’ll do 90 mph with some dialing in.”

The first new model from the company in a few years, the 270 Python is based off the proven ventilated bottom of Cobra’s 260 Venom catamaran and is the first boat the builder has done with Mercury’s digital electronic throttle and shift management.

“This boat has all the goodies,” Bohn said. “It’s great advertising, too. It is getting a lot of attention on the lake.”

Cobra currently has a couple of V-bottom models in production, but Bohn hopes to start on the second 270 Python soon. He said he has a few customers interested in one.
