Countdown To Miami: Nor-Tech, Outerlimits, Performance Boat Center And Skater
Exactly one month from today, the 2019 Miami International Boat Show opens on Virginia Key. At the docks and in the tents, it’s a massive exhibition that can take time to get through. If you’re going to see everything you want to see, you need to be prepared.

Nor-Tech’s Miami display will include two 450 center consoles.
According to Geoff Tomlinson, the Fort Myers, Fla., company’s director of dealer development, Nor-Tech will have at least four center consoles at its docks. They include two 450s, one 390 Sport and one angling-oriented 392. “We may also have something bigger,” Tomlinson said, but declined to elaborate further.

Outerlimits general manager Dan Kleitz said he is “99 percent” certain that Crypto, an exquisitely detailed, canopied SV 43 sportboat powered by Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines will be at the docks Miami. Few people outside the Bristol, R.I., custom high-performance boat company and Stephen Miles Design, the Owensboro, Ky., outfit that painted the boat, have seen the 43-footer firsthand. So if the current plan holds the Miami Boat Show will be its official debut. But Jet, a new and reportedly over-the-top canopied 46-foot Outerlimits catamaran owned by longtime client Burton Kirsten, definitely will be there for its public unveiling.
Performance Boat Center’s display will include two Wright Performance catamarans.
Carrying the Cigarette Racing Team, MTI, Sunsation and Wright Performance go-fast powerboat brands enables Osage Beach, Mo.—based Performance Boat Center to bring a diverse display of hardware to Miami every year. According the Brett Manire, the company’s co-owner, the full-service dealership will display two center consoles—an MTI V-42 and a Sunsation 32 CCX—at the event, as well as 42- and 36-foot Wright Performance catamarans.
Skater’s first eight-seat 388 catamaran will be at the Miami Show docks.
For Skater, “going big” in Miami this year refers to the seating capacity of its first eight-seat 388 catamaran in its official boat show debut, at least if you don’t count the 2018 Skater Fest event organized by Ron Szolack—who also owns the unique 38-footer—as a boat show. (We do, albeit a small, single-brand boat show.) Skater also will display a new 368 catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 1100s. For those who want to catch Peter Hledin, the driving force behind the Douglas, Mich., company, he’ll be there Friday and Saturday.
Of course, for those who can’t be there we’ll provide ongoing daily coverage from the four-day event, just as we have in years past.
