Countdown to Miami: Skater Displaying Two 318 Catamarans

With the new Miami Marine Stadium venue on Virginia Key, powerboat builders displaying at the 2016 Miami International Boat Show (Feb. 11-15) have had to face some new challenges. For example, the maximum boat length for displays inside the tents is 36 feet. Everything larger will be on the water.

That’s no problem for Skater Powerboats as the Douglas, Mich., custom boat builder will be displaying a pair of 31-foot catamarans at its exhibit in tent L-7. Featured on the cover of the just-shipped 2015 Speed On The Water 2015 Year In Review Collector’s Edition print magazine, Steve Lane’s Skater 318 powered by twin Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines will be on dollies in the front of the booth. A second Skater 318, this one for sale and powered by a pair of 1,000-hp Sterling Performance engines with Arneson AS-7 drives, will be on a tilt trailer at the back of the exhibit.

“We’re looking forward to showing off the two boats at the new venue in Miami,” Tony Cutsuries said. “We think people will like what they see.”
