Dave’s Custom Boats Announces Changes

Dave’s Custom Boats has been a leader in building custom catamaranss on the West Coast.

Dave’s Custom Boats, an award-winning custom catamaran and V-bottom builder in El Cajon, Calif., announced two significant internal changes in a press release today. Dave Hemmingson, DCB’s owner and founder, will remain involved but step back somewhat from his day-to-day, hands-on leadership role, according to the release. The company also is taking on outside investment.

“Dave’s Custom Boats is currently in negotiations with a close friend and customer to purchase or partner with the company,” Hemmingson said in the release. “This will help relieve some of the financial stress brought on by the day-to-day pressures of the operations that accompany manufacturing in the economically down-trodden marine industry. This has taken physical toll on my health and this (change) will aid in my healing process.

“I will remain as the face of DCB, operating in some mode of sales and marketing,” Hemmingson continued. “The key people in operations will remain and the product you have learned to love will continue its quest to be unequaled in quality and craftsmanship. I will keep all our customers and friends up to date as we proceed.”
