DCB Delivers Latest M35 with Mercury 1350s and New M8 Drives
Featuring bold yellow, gray and black gelcoat graphics, the latest M35 Widebody catamaran from DCB Performance Boats was delivered to its owner earlier this week and is now ready for some summer fun on Arizona’s Lake Havasu.
This stunning M35 Widebody catamaran from DCB Performance Boats is powered by twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines.
Owned by Southern California performance boaters Dave and Buffie Megugorac, who sold their DCB F32 catamaran with twin Mercury Racing HP700SCi engines, the new 35-footer is powered by a pair of turbocharged Mercury 1350 engines. The boat is the first from the El Cajon, Calif., company with the revised M8 drives from Mercury.
The new drives, which were announced by Mercury at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show, have an enhancement in the gearcase profile for improved efficiency and performance. Subtle changes were made to the M8 drive—reducing the size of the torpedo (diameter and length) and enhancing the shape of the skeg—to eliminate the need for blueprinting, according to the Fond du Lac, Wis., company.
According to DCB’s Paul Miller, the “R” in the M35 R embroidered throughout the boat was per Megugorac’s request. It has multiple meanings, including a nod to the “revised” drives, but Miller said the designation is not a special edition M35.
The six-seat catamaran’s spectacular upholstery—a 50/50 blend of Alcantara and Ultraleather—matches the gelcoat well, and the rigging meets the DCB standard of excellence.
Miller added that the company is going to build an all-yellow M35 with a pair of Mercury 1100 engines that will be delivered to a customer in New York early next year.
