DCB Receives Hull Molds For M37R Catamaran
Late last week, the crew at DCB Performance Boats took one step closer to producing its first outboard engine-powered true-tunnel catamaran. The molds arrived at the El Cajon, Calif., custom high-performance powerboat company late Friday afternoon—but not so late that the excited DCB team members didn’t get a chance to pose with it.

“Receiving the completed hull mold was a huge step with our M37R catamaran project,” said Jeff Johnston, the president of the company. “The molds are detailed down to a 1500 grit finish and polished to a high luster.”
As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, the new catamaran is 37 feet 6 inches long with a running surface of 36 feet 2 inches and a 10-foot 6-inch beam. The cat features a 65-inch tunnel without DCB’s customary center pod design. The six-seat M37R features a four-person rear bench and twin bucket seats for the driver and co-pilot that are separated by a console for the throttles and shifters.
According to Johnston, DCB already has five orders for the 37-footer. The first model is slated to debut during the Desert Storm Poker Run Street Party, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
“Now we just need to apply a sealer and a couple coats of wax,” said Johnston. “Then we’ll begin taping and spraying hull No. 1.”
