DCB Regatta Kicks Off With New Venue And M31 Delivery

Going to a Southern California-based owner, a recently completed DCB Performance Boats M31 catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines with M8 drives isn’t the only new addition to the custom high-performance boat-builder’s 21st Owners Regatta, which begins today in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. In fact, the entire London Bridge Resort venue is new—at least for the annual DCB event—for owners of the El Cajon, Calif., boat-builder’s catamarans and V-bottoms.

For the past five or six years at least, according to company president Jeff Johnston, the event has been based out of the popular Nautical Inn, which also formerly was the home base for the annual Desert Storm Poker Run Poker Run.

“We liked what we experienced at the London Bridge Resort this years during Desert Storm, so we decided to move it here,” said Johnston.

Most of the 73 boats registered for the event—a 12-boat increase from last year’s fleet—will arrive in Lake Havasu City today. In advance of tomorrow’s poker run to Lake Havasu Springs, a welcome party at the resort-attached Kokomo Pool and Bar kicks off the festivities this evening. An awards dinner and customer celebration is set for Saturday evening at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center.

Johnston said that while this isn’t the first time a new boat has been delivered to a customer during the DCB Owners Regatta, it doesn’t happen every year. The owner, however, isn’t new to the DCB family.

“This is his third DCB,” said Johnston. “His last one was an M31 with (Mercury Racing) 700s.”
