A couple of weeks after debuting its new 399 Cabin model, Deep Impact Boats was out on the water yesterday sea trialing and testing propellers on the 39-footer powered by four Mercury Verado 350 engines. In its first day of testing, the boat reached 78 mph and displayed excellent midrange acceleration, according to Deep Impact‘s Randy Truesdale.

“For our first time out, the boat was impressive, especially considering it’s a cabin boat,” Truesdale said. “It’s a heavy boat and it’s loaded with a lot of little creature comforts inside. Overall the ride is amazing and it jumps on plane real well, too. Mercury is going to be down here soon to some more dialing in. We should see a top speed above 80 mph.”

Truesdale said the gunmetal gray and black center console will be on display at Deep Impact’s booth at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (Oct. 31-Nov. 4). He expects the 399 Cabin model to be a top seller as the company has four more on order already.
