Deep Impact Brings on Industry Veterans at New Plant

Miami-based Deep Impact, which builds custom high-performance luxury centers consoles from 33 to 39 feet long—and is developing a 42-footer—has added two longtime marine industry players to its team, according to a press release from the company. Steven Koss will serve as plant operations manager for the builder’s new 50,000-square-foot facility. Orlando Santos will take on the role of purchasing manager.

Koss has worked in the industry for 30 years, most recently with Powerplay, Cheetah Cat and Platinum Power Boats.

Santos, who has 28 years of experience, started as a rigger at Cigarette Racing Team moved up to positions in quality control and parts and stock management.

“I am thrilled to welcome Koss and Santos to the Deep Impact team,” said Lazaro Hernandez, the owner and chief executive officer of Deep Impact, in the release. “Beyond their industry contacts, both Koss and Santos each bring over 20 years of quality marine experience from which Deep Impact can immediately benefit. In addition to having two key personnel changes, our new factory will make our production line much more efficient and increase our customer service. It is a major step forward.”
