Doller Sees Modest Upswing in Go-Fast Market

According to Mindi Doller of Doller Offshore, a long-established high-performance marine parts and service company, as well as an Active Thunder and Sunsation boat dealer, in Hollywood, Fla., the overall go-fast boat market seems to be slowly improving. Doller said that in addition to strong and steady business in parts and service—the company’s mainstay—a number of her boat-builder clients are reporting a moderate increase in new-model sales. (Doller itself recently took orders for a Sunsation 36′ and an Active Thunder 33’—a story on the latter will appear tomorrow on speedonthewater.com.)

“It’s not a giant, major shift—the banks still aren’t loaning a lot of money for new performance-boats—but people tell me they’re seeing an increase,” said Doller. “And even though our core business is parts and service, we’re selling a few boats.

“We’re really busy, even though a lot of our customers’ boats have gone ‘up north’ for the season,” she added. “Our local customers are doing a lot more boating this season. Last season, they didn’t seem to get out as much.”
