Donzi Classic Promo Exceeds Manufacturer’s Expectations

Started during the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October, Baja Marine‘s Donzi Classic Series Sales Special, which featured manufacturer-spec equipped 18- and 22-footers, ended last week. According to Johnny Walker, the chief executive officer of the Washington, N.C.-based parent company for the Baja, Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line powerboat brands, the special offering yielded 12 sales of Donzi Classic models.

Baja Marine’s special on Donzi Classics attracted 12 buyers in a little more than four months.

“We were supposed to end on the first of March, but I held the sale open an extra two weeks because we still had some quotes out there,” said Walker. “We sold ten 22′ Classics with 8.2 H.O engines and two 18′ Classics with 350 Magnums. We have delivered two so far. Another two are finished and are here waiting for their owners to pick them up after things thaw. There’s one in assembly and another in lamination. The rest will be laminated by the first week of May.”

Walker, who currently is preparing for the upcoming Gulfport Boat Show in Mississippi, said the program succeeded far beyond his expectations.

“Building the Classics at the special pricing was, as I said before, more of a ‘labor of love’ than anything else,” he said. “If we had done half a dozen, I would have considered that a huge success. But we actually did 12.”
