Exclusive First Look: Nor-Tech 298 Sport Center Console

Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats has completed its first 29-foot center console model, dubbed the 298 Sport. Powered by a single 370-hp Yanmar V-8- diesel engine, the boat is currently being shipped to a buyer in Norway.

“The Yanmar V-8 pushes the boat to 55 mph,” said Terry Sobo, the director of sales and marketing for the Cape Coral, Fla., custom boat builder. “Cruise speed at 40 mph with that engine results in more three miles per gallon.”

The new center-console model’s bold custom orange-and-black graphics were ordered by the buyer. As a custom builder, Nor-Tech offers nearly unlimited color options for the boat, as well as all its models.

The open-layout 29-footer joins a family of 34- and 39-foot center-console models.

The second 298 Sport should be complete in August. It will be powered by a pair of 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard engines and should top 70 mph, according to Sobo.

Based price for the 298 Sport is $225,000.

Like the other models in Nor-Tech’s Sport center-console series, the 298 boasts clean, sleek lines.
