Exclusive First Look: Outerlimits SV50 Hull and Deck Complete

Working under the pressing deadline of a 2013 Miami International Boat Show debut, the crew at Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats in Bristol, R.I., has completed the hull and deck of the first SV50 model. Based off the hull of the full-cockpit-and-cabin SL 52, the sleek, sit-down 50-footer was constructed with a partial monocoque cockpit system and a proprietary process of bonding the hull and deck, according to company founder and owner Mike Fiore.

The hull and deck of the first SV50 have been joined. Engine rigging and finish works needs to be completed in time for the boat's debut at the 2013 Miami International Boat Show.

“They are the same processes we used for the first time to build the SV29, which we unveiled almost a year ago at the Miami show,” Fiore said.

Fiore added that his company presently has three orders for the SV50. All three boats will be powered by Mercury Racing 1350 engines. Lamination on the builder’s next new project, a 43-foot catamaran, is scheduled to begin in March.

“We’re not going to touch that until after the Miami show,” Fiore said. “We’re too crazy right now.”
