FB Marine Group Dialing In First Mercury Marine Verado 300 Outboard-Powered Statement

With all of the action between last month’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and the season-ending Super Boat International Offshore World Championships and Florida Powerboat Club poker run in Key West, Fla., Statement Marine’s first center console with Mercury Marine’s new 300-hp V-8 outboard engines somehow managed to fall below radar. The stunning 35-footer—Statement also offers a popular 38-foot center console—is powered by a trio of Mercury Marine Verado 300 mills.

The boat was ordered through FB Marine Group by a London, England-based client—a former offshore racer—who has a winter home in Miami that he visits four to five times a year, according to the Pompano Beach, Fla.-headquartered full-service dealership’s Randy Sweers.

Sweers said he expects the boat, which he described as being dressed in a “Porsche-Miami-blue” hue, to run in the 75-mph range once it is completely dialed in. He added that he was immediately impressed with the performance of the new V-8 outboards.

“They are very torquey—they definitely have a lot more low-end torque than the in-line sixes,” he said. “You can feel the increased displacement in the form of torque, especially in the way the boat gets on plane. I’m very, very happy with them.”
