Fifth DCB M33R Widebody Cat Delivered To Elated Utah Couple

Following last year’s Spring Fun Run on Lake Powell hosted by Antelope Point Marina in Page, Ariz., in June, Utah performance boaters Randy and Laura Hallman had a good feeling their next go-fast-boat investment was going to be the best one yet.

And after taking delivery of a new DCB Performance Boats M33R Widebody catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines on Arizona’s Lake Havasu on Thursday, it turns out they were right. According to Randy Hallman, who previously owned a DCB F29 with a pair of Mercury Racing 525EFI engines as well as an Eliminator Boats 36 Daytona and a few Fountain Powerboats V-bottoms, the 33-footer is perfect.

“The boat turned out beautiful—pictures don’t do it justice,” said Randy Hallman, who owns Precision Laser Processing Inc., which has handled a variety of marine industry projects over the years with companies such as Teague Custom Marine and Whipple Superchargers. “We can’t wait to get it up to Lake Powell this summer. That’s where we boat 90 percent of the time; we love it there.”

Featuring DCB’s Phase III gelcoat graphics package with an elegant silver, black and gray design, the fifth M33R Widebody to be completed by the company—No. 6 is in production and No. 7 is in the mold—is fully loaded and equipped with a 100 percent Alcantara interior with a matching under cuddy. For added comfort, there are adjustable footrests for the driver and copilot, as well as grab handles in all the right places for the copilot and four rear seat passengers.

In the electronics department, DCB installed a 12-inch Garmin 7612 GPC center plotter and a pair of 12-inch Simrad NSS12 Evo3 touch-screen monitors in the dash. Interior LED lighting from Rigid was included throughout the entire boat and two amplifiers, two 12-inch subwoofers and eight new M6 midrange speakers—all from JL Audio—were part of the Stage III stereo package.

“The more we drive it, the more we like it,” Hallman said, adding that the boat’s triple-axle trailer from Adrenaline Trailers is practically as nice as the boat. “The F29 was a great boat, but this one is something else. I love the low-speed handling and how quickly it gets on plane. It feels so light and agile. The wraparound windshield is nice and the flat deck is awesome—the ability to step around the cockpit is huge. We’re very happy with the ride. It’s going to be a great boat for Lake Powell.

“In terms of fit and finish, the boat is a 10,” he continued. “Everything DCB did was perfect. The guys there made the entire process super easy. They’re fantastic to work with. If I buy another boat one day, it’ll be a DCB.”
