Fort Myers Offshore Cooks At Cayo Costa

For the Fort Myers Offshore group, the destination always is at least as important as the journey. Last Saturday’s run, which attracted approximately 35 boats including a 65-foot Sea Ray yacht, from the Sanibel Island Bridge to Cayo Costa was the perfect case in point. For the penultimate event in the Florida-based nonprofit club’s 2015-2016 schedule, the run was all about a day on the beach on the pristine island.

“The beach party is always a great venue for being able to socialize and hang out,” said Eric Belisle, the president of Fort Myers Offshore. “Guys were playing horseshoes, people were grilling steaks, burgers, dogs and so on—we even had a high-powered blender mixing up ice cold beverages.”

Belisle said he’s pleased that FMO, which raises college scholarship money for students in need, continues to grow in terms of membership and new boats.

“Andy Templeman was in a new Nor-Tech 39-foot center console and Diogo Francisco was in his new 38-foot Statement Marine center console,” he said.

The final of event of the FMO season, the club’s run to the Sarasota Hyatt, is set for April 22-24.
