Freedom Boat Club Teams Up With Habitat For Humanity
The nation’s largest boat club with more than 2,000 vessels in 195 locations in 31 states, the Freedom Boat Club has completed work on building a house for a family of three in North Port, Fla., in partnership with Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, Inc. The news was announced late last week in a press release from Brunswick Corp., which acquired the Venice, Fla.-headquartered club this year.
Freedom Boat Club members and employees worked closely with the team at Habitat South Sarasota to build a home for a Southwest Florida family.
Since February, Freedom Boat Club members and employees volunteered more than 250 hours toward building the home, according to the release. Freedom Boat Club was also involved as a “significant financial contributor” funding half of the building costs for the project.
“We are thrilled to have worked with Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, investing our time and energy to give back to our community,” said John Giglio, the president of Freedom Boat Club, in the release. “To share this experience with our employees and members makes this opportunity even more special. It speaks volumes to the strong-knit community we have built within our local boat clubs.”
According to the release, Habitat for Humanity has built more than one million homes—with more than 140 of those built in South Sarasota County—since 1992. The homes have been built with “an open concept to promote family togetherness, and includes environmentally friendly, cost effective and easy to maintain features.”

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and eagerness to help with any project we present to them,” said Christina McCauley, the development Coordinator for Habitat South Sarasota, in the release. “I am confident this is a partnership that will continue to grow.”
