In addition to providing transportation for United States-based offshore racing teams heading to the upcoming Qatar Cup in Doha (read the most recent story) in February, GAC Pindar has signed a three-year deal to be the “official logistics provider” for the newly formed Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix series. The news was announced in a press release from the Southampton, England-based marine and leisure sports logistics provider.

According to the release, GAC Pindar will coordinate the “logistics of equipment and infrastructure” for five races in Florida that OPGP organizers plan to hold each year, including the Sarasota Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix race. This is the first time GAC Pindar has provided its services to the offshore powerboat-racing world. However, the company has long been involved in providing logistics services in the competitive international sailing arena, including those for the Extreme Sailing Series and The Volvo Ocean Race which set off on its nine-month circumnavigation of the world from Spain last month.

“The addition of a powerboat race series to our portfolio brings an exciting challenge for our team of experts,” said Dominic Watson, GAC Pindar’s operations manager/sea freight, in the release. “Their passion and commitment match that of the drivers and teams who will compete, and we look forward to playing our part in what will be an incredible series.”

Steve Curtis, OPGP’s interim president, echoed Watson’s enthusiasm in the press release.

“We were incredibly impressed with the fresh and innovative approach in GAC Pindar’s proposal, which exactly mirrored the ethos of OPGP,” he said. “Their knowledge, experience and sailing credentials are second to none. We’re looking to really take power boating to the next level with the OPGP and are confident of doing so with GAC Pindar helping to drive us forward.”
