Gallagher Back In The Saddle With MTI

On Monday, Randy Scism, the owner Marine Technology Inc., in Wentzville, Mo., welcomed Tim Gallagher back to the MTI family, and based on interviews with both Scism and Gallagher, they are happy to have things “back to normal.”

Earlier this year, following a six-year stint as the sales and marketing manager for MTI that was preceded by positions at Cigarette Racing Team and Deep Impact Custom Boats, Gallagher took a job closer to home with Invincible Boats in Opa-locka, Fla. That lasted less than half the year as Gallagher missed the performance boat scene and the team at MTI missed him.

“Of course we’re excited to have Tim back—he’s a part of the family,” Scism said. “Tim had his reasons for leaving, but we’re happy he found some reasons to return. I feel like we’ve got a great team in place and we’ve surrounded Tim with some more teammates to make sure he doesn’t get overworked. It’s a good trait, but Tim has a tendency to take on a lot.”

Scism said a couple of dedicated employees—Tom Stuart and Scism’s daughter, Taylor—are going to handle some of the sales, marketing and customer integration tasks that Gallagher managed to balance on his own before.

“Invincible builds a great boat, it just wasn’t the right place for me,” Gallagher said. “To be honest I missed the performance boats every day. Plus MTI has a lot going on and Randy has brought in a great team to handle things moving forward.

“Since I left, Tom has expanded his role and taken the lead with customers during the build process, and Taylor joined the company with a noticeable willingness to learn and a fresh, sharp perspective and attitude,” he added. “Of course Mike Griffiths is managing the production now, and he has an incredible amount of experience. He’s made some positive changes on that side of things that are starting to take shape. We’re also all set up with our Miami facility to handle sales, service, storage, you name it. There are a lot of good things happening at MTI. I’m right back where I wanted to be and the MTI brand is on the cusp of some big things.”
