Gallery Of The Week: Burnt Store Beauties

No matter how great the venues involved may be, the success of any high-performance hinges on weather. That could explain the record-setting fleet for last Saturday’s Fort Myers Offshore fun/lunch run to Burnt Store Marina, which happenend under mostly blue skies and boasted high temperatures in the low 80s. The sixth event of the Southwest Florida-based nonprofit scholarship-raising club’s season, the event attract a 35-boat mix of performance-oriented center consoles and pure go-fast catamarans and V-bottom sportboats to the Punta Gorda venue.

Or maybe at least some of the attraction had to do with speedonthewater.com chief photographer being there to capture all the action. We can’t confirm this, of course, but we sure like to believe it.

For five new FMO members, the Burnt Store event, which wasn’t a designated fundraiser for the organization, was their first outing with the club. The run also was a “first” of sorts for the club’s board members.

“It was the first event of the year that all seven FMO board members—Eric Belisle, Cyndee Hill, Meghan Brousseau, Bill Forenski, Nick Amelio, Troy Schirk and myself—were able to attend,” said Tim Hill, who added that 50/50 raffle winner took home $1,000.

Fort Myers Offshore wraps up its 2018/2019 season on March 30 with its beach party run to Cayo Costa.

“We are still planning an impromptu weekend overnight run to the Keys after that event,” said Hill. “The details officially will be announced announced in the coming weeks.”
