Gallery Of The Week: Scenes From The Wozen-Barge

During the 2021 Kuttawa Cannonball Run in Kentucky, auctioneer Nolan Ferris coined a new term in honor of his friend Devin Wozencraft, the principal of Southern California-based Wozencraft Insurance Agency.

No one misses the first card stop at the Desert Storm Poker Run, which is why high-performance powerboat insurance specialist Devin Wozencraft has made it his own. Photos from the 2022 Desert Storm Poker Run by Jeff Helmkamp copyright Helmkamp Photos.

Not only did the new word stick for the weekend, it launched a trend. Later that year during the Lake Champlain Poker Run in Vermont, Jeremy Cohen of Seabound Yachts in Clayton, N.Y., came up with a new term for the high-performance powerboat insurance specialist’s smart phone.

Now it’s our turn. Every year during the Desert Storm Poker Run, the 2022 version of which ended last Saturday with its traditional top-speed shootout, Wozencraft sponsors the first card-stop. The southernmost stop consists of a 60-foot barge—decorated with banners for his company—near the Havasu Springs, which shares the sponsorship with the well-known insurance broker.

From here on out, Desert Storm card stop No. 1 shall be known as The Wozen-Barge.

We know he’ll enjoy it, just as we know you’ll enjoy our complete coverage of Desert Storm 2022—if you haven’t already.

South Carolina’s Scott James and company in his DCB Performance Boats M33R catamaran were among the Desert Storm Poker Run participants who enjoyed the event’s first stop.
