Gone Again’s Mungle Fundraising For Critically Injured Teen

Although Texan Kenny Mungle remains out of top-speed shootout competition, that doesn’t mean his canopied Gone Again Skater Powerboats 388 catamaran won’t be put to great use in the very near future. To help raise money for the treatment of David Jacob Anzaldua, his 19-year-old nephew who was critically injured in an automobile accident a few months ago, Mungle is auctioning off rides in the 38-footer as part of a fundraiser for the teenager.

The fundraiser will be held at the Crosby Fairgrounds on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Crosby, Texas. It will include a live auction, a silent auction, gun raffles, a motorcycle fun run and automobile and Jeep show, live entertainment and more. Rides in Mungle’s Gone Again Skater 388 cat, which will be on display at the venue, will be part of the live auction.

Anzaldua currently is paralyzed from the shoulders down. The event is being produced by his friends, classmates, neighbors and family members.

“He has been doing rehabilitation and he has made some very big steps to recovery,” the organizers wrote in an email forwarded to speedonthewater.com by Mungle. “He now has a little bit of movement in his arms and his tracheotomy has been removed. He is now doing outpatient therapy every day and he has an amazing outlook on his future. He is determined to walk again and wants to go back to college soon.

“In the meantime, the expenses are adding up for his family,” the organizers continued in the email. “He had to have a whole list of medical beds, chairs, lifts, therapy equipment, daily care, and a handicap accessible van to transport him back and forth to therapy.”

A Go Fund Me account has been set up for Anzaldua.
