Harris Pontoons Offering Mercury Racing 450R Outboards On Upscale Models

With Mercury Racing’s in-line six-cylinder 400R supercharged outboard engine already popular in the high-end pontoon market, it’s no surprise that the new supercharged V-8 450R already is making its way into the popular segment. To that end, Harris Pontoons of Fort Wayne, Ind., announced earlier this week that it will offer 450R power on its Grand Mariner and Crowne Series models from 23 to 27 feet.

Grand Mariner and Crown Series models from Harris Pontoons now can be ordered with Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines.

Released in June, the 450R reportedly delivers 40 percent more torque than its 400R sibling.

“The ability to offer our Grand Mariner and Crowne customers the opportunity to power their boat with a 450R is an incredible option, one that sets us apart in the pontoon market,” said Huw Bower, Brunswick Boat Group president, in press release from Brunswick.

Both the Grand Mariner and Crowne models are available immediately for order with the 450R, according to the release. For the first time, those models also will be offered with Nautic-On system, which provides consumers with “the opportunity to keep in touch with their boat remotely at all times—consumers will be able to see a real-time overview of their boat’s key systems and location remotely as well as receive alerts as to what is going on with their boat,” the release stated.

“Nautic-On is the most sophisticated remote tracker in the marine industry,” Bower. “These two new options are a very exciting addition to an already successful pontoon platform.”
