Delivered to its owner in Michigan, a new Nor-Tech 477 V-bottom reportedly has run more than 90 mph with a pair of 725-hp Ilmor Marine V-10 engines providing the power. And there’s a bit more left in it, according to Terry Sobo, the Cape Coral, Fla., company’s director of sales and marketing.

“They’re still playing with propellers,” said Sobo. “They’re waiting on props to show up, and when they do it should run 92, 93 mph.”

The customer-requested power choice was the first Ilmor engine installation Nor-Tech has done in several years, and company principal Trond Schou said he was pleased with how it went.

“It was new to all the guys, but it went pretty smoothly,” he said. “It’s a great engine package—no blower, really simple.”

Introduced at the 2012 Miami International Boat Show, the 477 is an extended-deck version of Nor-Tech’s popular 43-footer.
