Image of the Week: A Little Faster Please

Georgia performance boater Beau Renfroe isn’t afraid to admit his beautiful wife, Tiffiney, was trying to get him to go faster in the picture below shot by his sister, Sheridan Renfroe, during the recent Florida Powerboat Club Tampa Bay Poker Run.

Taken while running around on the bay in their 36-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran Dirty Money on Friday during the fun run—the Renfroes opted to dodge the rain on Saturday and ride in their friend Josh Kirkland’s Cigarette Racing Team 42 Huntress Dirty Duck—the photo captures Tiffiney urging Beau to go faster to get on top of the rough stuff.

“We were probably running 80 to 85 mph and she grabbed my hands and pushed the throttles forward because she thought we needed to be going faster—and she was right,” said Beau, who also owns a Fountain Powerboats 48 Express Cruiser to go with the Skater he purchased late last summer that is powered by twin 700-hp Mercury Racing engines. “It’s no surprise though. When we took Tres Martin’s Performance Boat School class, she did better than all of us in the class. Tres said it was because she didn’t have any bad habits to break.”

Beau, who is one of the primary organizers behind the Pirates of Lanier Poker Run on Georgia’s Lake Lanier in July, said he enjoyed his first time at the Tampa Bay Poker Run, citing the camaraderie with friends and the St. Petersburg facilities and nightlife as highlights.

The Renfroes’ next event is going to be the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run coming up in a few weeks, and then they’re planning to hit the revamped Jacksonville River Rally & Fun Run in Jacksonville, Fla., and most likely the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Supercat Fest in Missouri in late August.

“It’s fun to go to other events as long as the schedule allows,” Beau said, adding that the Skater is currently at Brand X Hi-Performance Marine in South Florida getting a onceover by Jason Ventura and his crew before the real summer fun begins. “As a boater, it’s cool to boat at other places, but from an event organizer perspective, it’s nice to see how some of the other organizers do things.”
