Image Of The Week: An Impactful Formation

Seeing four Deep Impact Custom Boats center consoles and a 43-foot Blackwater Boats sister ship running in formation near Key West, Fla., is pretty cool—the picture below proves that. Being in the middle of the photo shoot put together by Deep Impact and the Florida Powerboat Club media team on Saturday morning during the FPC Key West Poker Run in November might be even cooler—but that’s just the opinion of this journalist, who was on board the new striking silver and blue 390 Open powered by quad Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines.

What you don’t see in this image is the chaos before the shot as all of the boat owners jockeyed to get into position, get up to speed and stay in close proximity to one another. With Mark Fischer, the owner of both boat brands as well as Boats Direct USA, leading the charge in the Deep Impact 399 Open demo model, the group ran together for several miles with the helicopter above and then detoured toward Boca Grande Key to check out the FPC raft-up before heading to a private luncheon hosted by Yellowfin Bar and Grill at the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina.

As you can imagine, the outing was quite memorable and enjoyable. You can read about it and check out some of the pictures from the day—and from in the middle of the formation photo shoot—in the story following the owners appreciation lunch run hosted by Fischer and company.

Of course the photos aren’t as impactful as the one above but the boat-to-boat images are not half bad either. Unfortunately, being in the lead boat meant there weren’t many photos of the new center console or Mark Fischer and his wife, Eileen. Luckily Stu Jones and the team at FPC took care of that with this formation shot and many others from the morning photography and video session.
