Image of the Week: Dr. Gabe’s Wild Ride

Dr. Gabe Jasper, a spinal surgeon and pain management specialist from New Jersey, is not particularly tall. On a good day, he tops out around 5’10”. So why is he towering above of the rest of the people in this photo of Speed Racer, a 44’ Marine Technology, Inc., which was taken by Jay Nichols during the 2012 Miami Boat Show/Islamorada Poker run in February?

“I’ve always owned V-bottoms,” Jasper told the boat’s owner Bob Christie, his wife, Madeline, Joe Nasso and I—the crew of Speed Racer for the run—when we reached our lunch stop at Gilbert’s in Key Largo. “I’m used to standing up. I can’t see ahead as much when I’m sitting down. I don’t like it as much.”

No doubt he’ll learn to, as Jasper is the owner of the new Frisini Motorsports SCX 43 catamaran (Read the complete story)—dubbed Pain Killer—from Frisini Motorsports. But in the event he doesn’t, he can always go back to his current ride Outerlimits V-bottom.
