Image Of The Week: Flying Solo

How does a well-liked and well-traveled member of the marine industry end up running alone in a major event in his outboard engine-powered 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran? That’s a great question, and one we asked Devin Wozencraft of Wozencraft Insurance Company after we saw this Pete Boden image from the recent Tickfaw 200 Poker Run in Louisiana.

Of the dozens of pictures captured by Boden, speedonthewater.com’s chief photographer, this was the only one in which the operator didn’t have lots of company.

“A friend had arranged for me to have two passengers,” said Wozencraft. “But they didn’t show up, so I ran alone.”

Of course, with 350 to 400 boats in the Tickfaw 200 mix, Wozencraft was anything but alone on the water. And he had plenty of local friends such as Michael Pierce, who is housing Wozencraft’s catamaran for the next few weeks at his home in Gonzales, La., to keep him company when he wasn’t running.
