Image Of The Week: Fountain And Harris Under One Roof

Jeff Harris, the former longtime Fountain Powerboats employee who was named chief operating officer of Iconic Marine Group after the sudden tragic death of former chief operating officer Joe Curran, finished his first week at the Washington, N.C., company last Friday. And to get up to speed with what’s currently happening at the company, as well as refamiliarize himself with his former digs, Harris toured the facility with none other than Reggie Fountain, Jr., the man who started it all.

During a Fountain production line tour last week, new Iconic Marine Group COO struck a pose with an equally—if not more—iconic Reggie Fountain, Jr. (Click image to enlarge).

“There are new models everywhere mixed in with classics,” said Harris. It’s very exciting. There is a lot of positive energy here.”

For the always charming, ever-gracious Fountain, hosting his longtime friend and former employee, was a pleasure. No finer ambassador exists for all the Iconic Marine Group brands, and that includes Baja and Donzi.

“I helped Reggie roll out glass on his first boat 40 years ago and worked for him at Fountain for 20 years,” said Harris, who was part of the cockpit team during last year’s Fountain V-bottom kilometer record attempts. “Walking the plant with Reggie was very nostalgic.”
