Image of the Week: Fountain Kilo Boat Strikes A Pose

While we’ve published several stories on the canopied 40-foot sportboat Fountain Powerboats designed and built for tomorrow’s planned assault on the American Power Boat Association Unlimited V-bottom kilometer speed record, photos of the finished product have been hard to find. Make that nonexistent.

At least until now. Thanks to our longtime friend and collegue Charles Plueddeman, one of the finest writers in the marine journalism, who is currently on assignment Washington, N.C., for Boating magazine to cover the kilo event. Truly “a good man to have around”—that’s even on his business card—Pluddeman graciously shared his images of the boat, which is dressed in simple white graphics in homage to the 2004 kilo-record-setting Fountain V-bottom.

Somewhere between Charlotte and Washington, Speedonthewater.com’s Jason Johnson currently is on the road to the Fountain plant where he’ll join Plueddeman and other members of the media to cover tomorrow’s action. Look for complete coverage the website tomorrow.
