Image Of The Week: Freedom Flashback

In October 2018, Northern California’s Dale Rayzor closed the deal on Freedom, a 46-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran well-known in in the high-performance boating world. Rayzor bought the boat through Randy Sweers at FB Marine Group, and the purchase put him among an elite group of colorful go-fast boating characters including Jim Lee, Tom Borisch and Win Farnsworth.

Four months later and just before the Miami International Boat Show, Rayzor took delivery of the 46-footer.. He ran cat the following weekend in the Florida Powerboat Club’s Miami Boat Show Poker Run, but a mechanical issue kept him and his friends from enjoying the return leg of the club’s annual post-show trek to Key Largo. Still, Razor and company, including Chris Mills from Boat Customs, who gave Freedom a complete makeover in 2017-2018, reportedly had a ball.

Now the boat is in storage awaiting its new engines.

What makes Freedom, a 25-year-old boat, so memorable is its interpretive American flag paintjob, which creates the illusion of speed through swooshes of color from the banner of our great nation. That the cat is an entirely made-in-the-U.S.A. product is equally fitting.

And on Memorial Day weekend, Freedom is the perfect choice for our Image of the Week. Like all of you, we salute and remember those who paid the ultimate price so we could have it.
