Image Of The Week: Keeping Up With The Joneses

With their annual poker run to Key West, Fla., less than a week away, the Florida Powerboat Club’s Stu and Jackie Jones decided it was time to give participants a good-natured and personal, visual reminder on their Facebook event page: Wear your personal flotation devices at all times during the trek to the city at the end of the road.

And with more than 260 high-performance catamarans, V-bottom sportboats and center consoles registered for the run, their timing couldn’t be better.

Good advice? No. Great advice—and easy to follow. If Charles Darwin were alive and doling out survival suggestions, wearing a PFD when you’re on a boat would top his list.

Like hundreds of other folks, speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson and maybe even Rebecca Peacock Fogg (my less-than-boat-loving fiancé) will be heading to Key West with the fleet on Thursday. (I have to be there early Wednesday morning, so no boat ride for me.) They’ll be part of the Nor-Tech HI-Performance Boats flotilla. And of course they’ll be sporting PFDs whenever their ride—a Nor-Tech center console—is underway.

Because they want to stay alive and, OK, keep up with the Joneses.
