Image Of The Week: Lake Michigan Strikes Back, Part II

No one shoots more high-performance boating events in any given season than speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden. And it’s safe to say the guy loves his job.

But he loves it less when the water is flat.

So it’s also safe to say that for the past two weekends, Boden, who calls Southwest Florida home but spends much of his summers in Michigan, has really loved his job. That’s because Lake Michigan dished up some moderately bumpy water for the Boyne Thunder Poker Run and—more recently—some downright evil water for the Rock The Coast events.

Among the big V-bottoms Boden captured launching, flying and landing was a new Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 477 Super Vee powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines. The wild 47-footer is owned by Ron Meyering of Holland, Mich., and he invited speedonthewater.com co-publisher/executive editor Jason Johnson along for the ride.

Johnson was happy, as was his host. But no one involved was happier than Boden.
