Image of the Week: Lost Horizon

Currently in the thick of his annual go-fast powerboat summer photo safari, speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden dropped by yesterday’s Offshore Powerboat Association International Race on the St. Clair River in Port Huron, Mich., and Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. (The course runs on the U.S. and Canadian sides of the waterway.) Boden came straight to the event from shooting Saturday’s Buffalo Poker Run—the weekend prior found him back in Michigan capturing Skaterfest in the Detroit area.

Boden sent us a slew of great images from the race, the results of which have not yet been posted on the OPA website. But the one above of Done Deal, a 22-foot Activator V-bottom that competes in Class 7, caught our eyes. As the photo proves, in a boat that small even river chop can put you in a less-than-desirable—but undeniably entertaining, at least for the viewer—running angle.
