Image of the Week: One Mean Pink Machine

Whether he’s testing his raceboat the day before Wednesday’s first race of the Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., or running in the final Superboat-class race on Sunday afternoon, you can pretty much guarantee FB Marine Group owner Randy Sweers is having a good time on the throttles of his 40-foot MTI catamaran Sailor Jerry/Autonation, which is powered by twin 750-hp engines from Ilmor Marine.

This year, as this picture taken during testing on Tuesday by speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden shows, shouldn’t be any different. Barring any mechanical issues or accidents, who wouldn’t have fun running hard in Sweers’ black and pink MTI that is dedicated to raising awareness for the early detection of breast cancer?

Sweers and the team’s driver, Glen Hibbard, are currently out testing today—as are all of the other teams in the Superboat class—with the goal of finishing better than they did on Wednesday (they were eighth out of nine entries) in the remaining races on Friday and Sunday. Last year, the team finished seventh overall with its best race coming on Friday with a second-place finish.
