Image Of The Week, Part II: Fire Escape

That Grand Prix-class hydroplane racer Brandon Kennedy walked away unscathed from this inferno today during the American Power Boat Association’s Orange Cup Regatta in Lakeland, Fla., is amazing. So, too, is this Pete Boden image of the inferno. While most high-performance powerboat enthusiasts probably know Boden for his work chronicling the action in the offshore racing and poker run worlds, the Bradenton, Fla.-based photographer shoots just about everything fast on the water.

For Kennedy, hydroplane racing is a family affair. His finance, Karson King, is an avid and successful hydro racer.

Later this month—March 20-22—Boden will be shooting the Classic Raceboat Association’s Spring Thunder event on Lake Dora in Tavares, Fla. We know he’ll capture hundreds of great images of raceboats on the water. With any luck, none of them will include fire.
