Image of the Week, Part II: New Year’s Day Formation

Photographer Jay Nichols put it perfectly when describing this image he captured of the fleet of high-performance powerboats kicking off the Seventh Annual Ft. Myers Offshore New Year’s Day Fun Run to Marco Island:

“This shot says all you need to know about Southwest Florida boating.”

Behind the fleet is the Sanibel Causeway. The city of Cape Coral is in the background.

“The boats running southbound almost directly into the sun made for very distinctive shots depending on relative position,” said Nichols.
