Image Of The Week: Sunsation 40 CCX In Paradise

Much as we love big-air action shots, we also appreciate images of boats idling through calm water in beautiful settings. Speed on the water is a rush, for sure, but chilling out and just taking it all in is good for the soul.

Snagged by photographer Jeff Helmkamp, this photo of a 2020 Sunsation Boats 40 CCX presents a perfect case in point. Helmkamp, who lives in Illinois and is a frequent contributor to speedonthewater.com, captured it last Saturday in Key Largo, Fla., as Missouri performance boaters Kent and Liz Anderson were heading for the Keys Island Runners Rey Marino Memorial Fun Run and Raft-Up.

As Missouri’s Kent and Liz Anderson can attest, slowing down to appreciate your surroundings is just fine—especially on a fine center console such as a Sunsation 40 CCX. Photo by Jeff Helmkamp copyright Helmkamp Photography.

The Andersons had come to the Upper Keys a couple of days earlier with the Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run fleet and decided to check out the Keys Island Runners raft-up on the Islamorada Sandbar.

A week earlier, a Sunsation 40 CCX in the water at Sea Isle Marina and Yachting Center turned heads during the Miami International Boat Show. According the Ryan Wenk, the Algonac, Mich., high-performance center console company’s director of sales, it was the first time a Sunsation 40 CCX had been displayed at the Miami event in a couple of years.

“Feedback on the 40 CCX was exciting to say the least,” he said. “It had been a little while since we had one in Miami, so it was fun to watch everyone get up close and personal with the largest boat in our lineup. We just kicked off our first 40 CCX build of the year and are nearly sold out on build slots for 2022.”
