Image Of The Week: Tilt In Technicolor

When you think of locales with stunning water colors, places such as Florida’s Emerald Coast and Bimini in the Bahamas come to mind. Chances are good that—unless you happen to be a Detroit-area local—the St. Clair River in Michigan doesn’t jump out.

But if the photo above is anything to go by, maybe it should.

Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden captured this image of Tilt, an immaculately restored Skater Powerboats 40-foot catamaran (read the story) built in 2003 and owned by Michigan’s Ed Tirakian during the ninth annual Skaterfest happening last weekend. And the 16-year-old boat’s smoldering red-and-yellow Boat Customs paintjob contrasted brilliantly with the aquamarine water of the St. Clair River.

Editor’s Note: Look for a wrap-up of the 2019 Skaterfest event later today on speedonthewater.com. A complete feature on the Tilt Skater catamaran project in the upcoming July/August issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine.
