Inaugural Performance Boat Center Outboard Fun On Tap With 30 Boats Registered

With last weekend’s 114-boat Cigarette Owners Rendezvous an unqualified hit, the crew at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., heads into this Friday’s inaugural Mercury Marine/Mercury Racing Outboard Fun Run on a roll. Some 30 participants have already registered for the event and more are certain to sign up today and tomorrow.

“With 30 boats signed up now, that means we should have about 50 boats total for the fun,” said Brett Manire, who co-owns the full-service multi-brand dealership with Mark Waddington. “That is the perfect amount for this event.”

As a Cigarette Racing Team, MTI, Sunsation and Wright Performance dealer, Performance Boat Center will have strong representation from all those brands in the fleet. But as long as it is powered by Mercury Marine or Mercury Racing outboards, any boat can be entered in the run. Mercury Racing hydrodynamics specialist Mike Griffiths will be on hand for the run.

In addition to building camaraderie and community on the water, the event will provide a broad showcase of outboard-powered boats for the dealer.

“We will have a Sunsation 40 CCX and a bunch of Sunsation 32 CCX models, a Wright Performance 420 and a few 360s, a ton of MTI 340X cats and even a couple of 32-foot Doug Wright raceboats,” said Manire.

Manire emphasized that the event is being held in compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Performance Boat Center will provide masks and hand-sanitizer to participants.
