Indmar Honored For ROUSH-Charged Raptor 575 Engine

Indmar Marine Engines was honored today for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show. The news was announced in a press release from Indmar, the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of gasoline inboard marine engines.

A collaborative effort between and famed ROUSH Performance—with its first foray into the marine industry—and Indmar Marine, the 575 engine is the first powerplant to incorporate ROUSH Performance supercharging technology into a marine powerplant. The Raptor 575 is the only supercharged catalyzed engine emissions-certified by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board. Indmar and ROUSH.

The Raptor 575 is based Ford’s F-Series Super Duty® 6.2-litre engine. Indmar’s engineering team spent more than three years—and 5,400 hours—developing the Ford package for marine use.

While the engine currently is targeted for the inboard towboat category, the 575 Raptor has “excellent potential at a great price” for the entry-level performance-boat segment, according to an Indmar representative. The company already has started discussions with a couple of go-fast boat builders, according to the Indmar source.

Organized by the NMMA and judged by BWI, the award recognizes innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured that benefit the marine industry and consumers. According to BWI judging criteria, the products must be cost-effective, practical and available to consumers within 60 days of award receipt.
