Inside SOTW Mag: Family Reserve—Outerlimits Factory Fun Run

Standing on the upper deck of the Tipsy Seagull, an aptly named watering hole in Borden Light Marina in Fall River, Mass., high-performance marine insurance man Devin Wozencraft and a reporter marveled at the 32-boat Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats fleet at the surrounding docks. Neither had ever seen anything like it.

Because there had never been anything like it in the Bristol, R.I., company’s 20-year history. The inaugural Outerlimits Factory Fun Run attracted the largest fleet of Outerlimits boats in one place at one time to date.

“How many millions of dollars of hardware do you think we’re looking at?” the reporter asked the insurance broker and avid performance boater. “I’m thinking at least $30 million.”

Wozencraft laughed and nodded. “At least,” he said.

The Outerlimits family of customers is a close-knit group—a subset of that group has an ongoing text thread that is as hilarious and irreverent as it is brutal and merciless—so it was no surprise that they hauled their boats from as far as Wisconsin, Michigan and even the Toronto, Canada, area to participate in the event.
