Inside SOTW Mag: The Ed Champion Interview

No one on the sales side of go-fasting boating takes more joy in his work than Ed Champion of Big Thunder Marine in Lake Ozark, Mo. Need proof? Multiple times a week, Champion posts a first-person image on his Facebook page titled “Another day at the office,” which typically finds the 49-year-old, one- man salesforce-of-nature at work on the water looking over a bow or a transom.

Just another day at the office for Ed Champion of Big Thunder Marine.

With three locations in the Lake of the Ozarks area, the Central Missouri dealership carries the Donzi, Fountain and Baja lines and Champion is involved with everything from demo rides to delivery. He is, for all intents and purposes, the public face of those brands at one of the nation’s most popular go-fast boating destinations.

You’ve been with Big Thunder four years now and the dealership has grown significantly, including the opening of a new showroom a couple of years back. That has to be exciting.

Oh yeah, the business has just exploded. We have 52 employees and three locations now. We have had growth spurts and, of course, growing pains but the rapid expansion of Big Thunder Marine has been pretty amazing.
