Kinetic Animation Still Wrapped-Up In Pleasure-Boat Projects

Ryan Beckley, the owner of Kinetic Animation in Bradenton, Fla., typically would be flooded with offshore raceboat graphics changes, repairs and additions this time of year. But with the racing season yet to begin as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Beckley and Kinetic Animation employee Luke Wagner have remained busy with pleasure-boat projects.

“When COVID-19 first began, we had three really slow weeks,” said Beckley, a veteran offshore racer who competes in the Super Stock-class ranks in a 30-foot catamaran from Skater Powerboats. “But it picked up after that.

“We’ve had work—not enough racing stuff to meet the early season numbers we’ve done in the past few years but enough to keep going,” he continued. “We just finished a single-outboard Mirage tunnel boat and we’re doing a full wrap on a 29-foot Warlock. We’re getting ready do a partial wrap with a design from Stephen Miles on a 34-foot Pilini cat, as well as a partial wrap on a 30-foot Skater from Long Island.”

Beckley said he’s expecting few Statement Marine center consoles to arrive at his shop for wrap work in the near future. He’ll also be taking his act on the road, so to speak, to his hometown of Key West, Fla., in the next few weeks.

Kinetic Animation designed these graphics for 30-foot Skater wrap project currently in the shop.

“I have two or possibly three boats I need to go to Key West to handle,” he said.

As for the offshore racing season, Beckley remains optimistic that his will begin with the Offshore Powerboat Association Crystal Coast Grand Prix, September 11-13, in Moorhead, N.C.

“Jeff McCann, who is putting on the race there, said it is a go,” he said. “I believe we’ll have around 10 Stock Class teams there.”
